Black Walnut Rocking Chair with Tiger Maple Accents
Walnut is a premier wood to work with and produces a beautiful and comfortable rocking chair. This chair is more beautiful to see and touch and the pictures just do not do enough to enhance. Some sap wood can be seen in the seat and extends into the headcrest showing off the symmetry of this Rocking Chair. The back is laminated with Tiger Maple to provide contrast and will show even more as the wood ages.
This is a large size chair designed for someone 6' to 6'6" tall. It is called Nascar because it has Maple racing stripes in the rockers. The back braces are Walnut on the front with Tiger Maple on the back and Ash lams inbetween. I use Ash inbetween on all of my chairs now because is more flexible and provides a more comfortable back support.
The Tiger Maple shows quite a contrast to the dark chocolate color of the Walnut. Notice the plugs made of Maple as well.
My chairs are well constructed and the joints are designed be strong and last more than a lifetime. If you are looking for an heirloom piece that will last for generations, this is it.
Walnut is laminated to the back braces to provide a pleasing contrast. Comments from customers include how comfortable the chair is to sit in and that they notice the flexibility and support that the back gives.
Cherry is one of my favorite woods to work with. It is hard, durable and provides a beautiful warm color. As time goes on, Cherry becomes darker and even more beautiful. It is recognized as a premier wood for making fine furniture because of its unique color and fine grain This chair is built for someone in the 5'6" to 6' heighth range.
This chair was built from a single board to give a consistent grain and color match. The accents, plugs and backbrace backs are Walnut which gives a good contrast and adds flexibility to the back braces. The plugs are Walnut to give a nice contrast and the back braces are laminated on the back with Walnut as well.
